para la ocho luna nueva del ciclo cuatro del rey de meda yhwh dirigio esta palabra al profeta zacarias yhwh se acuerda hijo de berequias yhwh bendice y berequias hijo de ido oportuno [ba kheit khodesh moed dalet et dareyavesh haya dabar yhwh el zecharyah ben berekyah ben ido]
1 In the chodesh hashmini (eighth month), in the shnat shtayim (second year) of Daryavesh, came the Devar yhwh unto Zecharyah ben Berechyah ben Iddo HaNavi, saying,
2 — Vuestros antepasados irritaron sobremanera al Señor.
3 Di, pues, a los israelitas: “Esto dice elohim yhwh del universo: Volved a mí —oráculo del elohim del universo— y yo me volveré a vosotros”. Es palabra del elohim yhwh del universo.
4 No imitéis a vuestros antepasados a quienes ya los más antiguos profetas amonestaban diciendo: “Así os habla yhwh del universo: Cambiad de conducta; abandonad vuestro mal proceder y vuestras perversas acciones”. Pero ni me escucharon ni me hicieron caso alguno —oráculo del Señor—.
5 Pues bien, ¿dónde están ahora vuestros antepasados? Y los profetas, ¿acaso van a vivir indefinidamente?
6 Sin embargo, las palabras y preceptos que encomendé transmitir por medio de mis siervos, los profetas, encontraron acogida en vuestros antepasados que se convirtieron reconociendo que el elohim yhwh del universo los había tratado de acuerdo con su proceder y sus acciones.

7 El día veinticuatro del undécimo mes —es decir, el mes de Sebat— del reinado de Darío, yhwh dirigió su palabra al profeta Zacarías, hijo de Berequías y nieto de Idó, que se expresó en estos términos:
8 — He tenido durante la noche una visión: vi a un hombre que estaba sentado en un caballo rojo entre los mirtos de la hondonada; detrás de él había caballos rojos, alazanes y blancos.

— ¿Quiénes son estos, mi Señor?
El ángel que hablaba conmigo me respondió:
— Yo te indicaré quiénes son.
10 Entonces intervino el hombre que estaba entre los mirtos y dijo:
— Estos son los que ha enviado yhwh a recorrer la tierra.
— ¿Quiénes son estos, mi Señor?
El ángel que hablaba conmigo me respondió:
— Yo te indicaré quiénes son.

— Estos son los que ha enviado yhwh a recorrer la tierra.
11 Ellos entonces se dirigieron al ángel de yhwh y le informaron:
— Hemos recorrido toda la tierra y la hemos encontrado tranquila y en calma.
12 El ángel de yhwh exclamó:
—elohim del universo del universo, ¿cuándo, por fin, te apiadarás de Jerusalén y de las ciudades de Judá contra las que llevas ya setenta años irritado?
13 Entonces yhwh dio al ángel que me hablaba una contestación amable y consoladora.
— Hemos recorrido toda la tierra y la hemos encontrado tranquila y en calma.
12 El ángel de yhwh exclamó:
—elohim del universo del universo, ¿cuándo, por fin, te apiadarás de Jerusalén y de las ciudades de Judá contra las que llevas ya setenta años irritado?
13 Entonces yhwh dio al ángel que me hablaba una contestación amable y consoladora.
14 Así que el ángel que hablaba conmigo me dijo:
— Proclama: “Esto dice el elohim del universo: Estoy profundamente enamorado de Jerusalén y de Sión,
— Proclama: “Esto dice el elohim del universo: Estoy profundamente enamorado de Jerusalén y de Sión,
15 y es grande mi enojo contra las naciones que, seguras de sí mismas, se aprovecharon de que yo no estaba muy irritado [contra ellas] para intensificar su hostilidad.
16 Por eso así dice yhwh: Miro compasivo a Jerusalén donde será reconstruido mi Templo —oráculo del elohim del universo— junto con el resto de la ciudad”.
17 Y proclama también: “Esto dice yhwh del universo: Mis ciudades rebosarán bienestar, yhwh colmará de nuevo a Sión de consuelo y Jerusalén podrá aún ser elegida”.
2 yhwh hath been very angry with your avot.
3 Therefore, say thou unto them, Thus saith yhwh Tzva’os: Return ye unto Me, saith yhwh Tzva’os, and I will return to you, saith yhwh Tzva’os.
4 Do not be like your avot, unto whom the nevi’im harishonim preached, saying, Thus saith yhwh Tzva’os: Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings; but they did not hear, nor listen to Me, saith yhwh.
5 Your avot, where are they? And the nevi’im, do they live hal’olam (forever)?
6 But My devarim and My chukkim, which I commanded My avadim hanevi’im, did they not overtake your avot? And they made teshuvah and said, Just as yhwh Tzva’os determined to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath He dealt with us.
7 Upon the four and twentieth yom of the eleventh chodesh, which is the chodesh Shevat, in the shnat shtayim of Daryavesh, [519 B.C.E.] came the Devar yhwh unto Zecharyah, ben Berechyah ben Iddo, HaNavi, saying,
8 I had a vision by halailah, and, hinei, a man riding upon a sus adom (a red-brown horse), and he stood among the myrtles that were in the hollow; and behind him there were susim: red-brown, sorrel, and white.
9 Then said I, O adoni, what are these? And the malach that spoke with me said unto me, I will show thee what these are.
10 And the man that stood among the myrtles answered and said, These are they whom yhwh hath sent to patrol ha’aretz.
11 And they reported to the Malach yhwh that stood among the myrtles, and said, We have patrolled ha’aretz, and, hinei, kol ha’aretz is quiet, and at peace.
12 Then the Malach yhwh answered and said, O yhwh Tzva’os, until when wilt Thou withhold mercy on Yerushalayim and on the towns of Yehudah, against which Thou hast been angry these threescore and ten shanah?
13 And yhwh answered the Malach that spoke with me with devarim tovim and with comforting words.
14 So the malach that communed with me said unto me, Preach, saying, Thus saith yhwh Tzva’os; I have been jealous for Yerushalayim and for Tziyon with a kina gedolah (great jealousy).
15 And I am very angry with the Goyim that are [self] secure; for I was but a little angry, and they added to the ra’ah.
16 Therefore thus saith yhwh: I am returning to Yerushalayim with rachamim; My Beis [Hamikdash] shall be rebuilt in her [Yerushalayim], saith yhwh Tzva’os; and a measuring line shall be stretched forth upon Yerushalayim.
17 Preach also, saying, Thus saith yhwh Tzva’os; My towns will overflow with tov; and yhwh shall yet comfort Tziyon, and shall yet choose Yerushalayim.
18 (2:1) Then I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and hinei four keranot (horns, powers, i.e., empires; see Dan chps 2 and 7)!
19 (2:2) And I said unto the malach that spoke with me, What are these? And he answered me, These are the keranot which have scattered Yehudah, Yisroel, and Yerushalayim.
20 (2:3) And yhwh showed me arba’ah charashim (four craftsmen).
21 (2:4) Then said I, What come these to do? And he spoke, saying, These are the keranot which have scattered Yehudah, so that no man did lift up his head; but these [craftsmen] are come to terrify them, to throw down the karnot haGoyim, which lifted up their keren (horn) over Eretz Yehudah to scatter her.
